This appears to be a cellular gateway.

Does anybody know if it is still supported and if so it's requirements and capabilities?

It's a replacement for a fixed (copper) phone line, which has been overtaken by Home Phone Wireless. In theory, we would still support it if you have an active plan for it.

Chucked a prepay SIM in and it worked fine. Expensive obviously.
