Hi
I'm heading to UK/Ireland for a month and am renting a car. I'm trying to figure out how to best stay in touch and navigate around, having been trawling the forums and getting ideas but also confused, hoping someone who has been recently can cut through the haze :)
1. Currently use a Telecom Treo 650 but unless Telecom get their GSM act together soon I'll be heading to Vodafone. If I buy one here, can i just get a local UK SIM card? My other option was to just buy a cheap GSM phone over there, not worried about having a different number.
2. I need GPS since I'll be driving for a month. I was planning on buying a seperate unit (narrowed it down to a Garmin 760 at the moment) but then read a bit about Nokia n95 or similar with built in nav. The idea of combing phone + GPS sounds great but would like to hear from people with real life experience if it is as good as dedicated units.
3. I have 3 days right in London before I head off - if I wait to buy phone and/or GPS can anyone recommend a shop to head for? Would be nice not to spend the first day walking all over with Yellow Pages!
Any advice much appreciated
Bill
