After years of trying different combinations of flaky modems with crappy routers and unstable modem+router devices, I'm looking for a solid modem and wireless VOIP setup that meets a few requirements:

Extremely stable, (really sick of having to power cycle my WRT54g every two days)
Allows bitTorrent to run as well as possible
Doesn't have any peculiarities that would mess with a web (Apache) + FTP server I would be running
VOIP on the router must be Xnet compatible

Right now, I'm thinking about a Dynalink rta1320 modem along with a Linksys WRP400 router. I've heard good things about running the modem in half-bridge mode.

After a bad run with Linksys routers I'm a little wary about getting another, but with Xnet only suporting Linksys VOIP devices, I don't think I have a choice.

Please post about your experiences with these devices, or if you have any other suggestions.

Get any good router and a DSL modem. For VOIP just get an ATA that can be plugged into any router.

We use the draytec routers.
My one at home hasn't been ofline in 3 months.
However WxC don't support the VoIP chips in these routers you can always use a PAP2 ir SPA unit.

Do not get a Linksys modem. They're awful at holding connection.

I have a Linksys AM300 running in half bridge mode and a PAP2T and that has worked perfectly for me since i signed up around a month ago. I haven't had any disconnections and it seems to be very stabe. The modem itself is about 6months old (I think) and it had no problems at its last address either. The PAP2T serves my purposes fine, all i have is a single cordless phone conencted to it. I also run apache and ftp without any issue.

I already have a PAP2T in case I get a non-Linksys router. Would a wireless Draytek router work with the Dynalink rta1320 in half-bridge mode? If so, would anyone recommend a Draytek over a Linksys WRP400?

Drayteks are kind of expensive, but from what little I've heard about them they seem to be one of the most reliable models.

Is there a Draytek wireless router in the ~$200 range? Ascent only has non-wireless Draytek routers/switches, and those are all $400 upwards.

I am running Linksys AM300 modem in half-bridge mode with Linksys WRP400 as my VoIP router. Have had really reliable connections so far, my last uptime run was over 10 days long.

If you decide to get AM300 as your modem, make sure you update it with the latest firmware.

Sure 10 days is a reasonable length of time.
The issue I have found with linksys is that when it works, it works. There is no consistency in their products reliability.

Why not use a Draytek by itself without the rta1320? Takes your configuration from 3 units to 2.
