Hi all

I've signed up to Xnet Fusion a couple of days ago and am trying to sort out the hardware side of things.  I have been on Woosh Wirless for the last couple of years and now am making the move :)  We don't have a live phone connection to our house.  I've been looking at the hardware specs on the Xnet site and reading forums but am still confused...

I have called Xnet a few times to try and clarify exactly what I need.  The first time I spoke with someone on the sales team who said that "any one of the first 3 options listed on the site would be fine".

The 3 pieces of hardware that are listed on the site are:
Linksys WAG54GP2v2
Linksys WRTP54G-AU
Linksys WRP400

So just to be certain before I spent some $$$, I spoke to someone on the technical helpdesk and they said, no you can't just get options 2 or 3 as you don't have any wired internet already.

He actually suggested getting a Dynalink RTA1320 together with the Linksys WRP400.  Said that they were having problems with the WAG54GP2v2 (the all-in-one device which I was leaning towards).

So went into Dick Smiths in the weekend and they said the Dynalink was being discontinued and they were trying to get rid of their stock and they had never heard of the WRP400.

So it's all very confusing.  I'm pretty IT-literate but hardware is a little out of my field.

Can anyone help?

Thanks
Susan

Hi Susan,

Sounds like the Sales people at Dick Smiths weren't too certain or didn't have either of those devices in stock.

You can pickup a RTA 1320 from numerous computer retailers - here's a list from pricespy http://www.pricespy.co.nz/pno_8074.html

Here's a similar list of people selling the Linksys WRP400 - http://www.pricespy.co.nz/search.php?q=WRP400+

Thanks
Cameron

Thanks Cameronn - I have been checking out PriceSpy but I didn't want to order the equipment until I was sure it was right.  I just seem to be getting so many conflicting answers :(

You can get RTA1320 on Trademe a *lot* cheaper than retail (or via the dealers shown on PriceSpy). The 1320's are bundled with a lot of "free" modem/DSL deals so there a few around. I'd also recommend the WRP400 -  I have the SPA2102 but wish I'd got the WRP instead.

Thanks for the trademe hint Plx :)  Pity there's not any WRP400s on there...

Would you mind expanding on that? Thanks.

You can never have enough Volvos!

I could ditch my seperate Linksys router & the SPA, & replace them with the WRP.
