Last monday (9th June) I signed up to get Telstraclear PDQ Turbo. I was told that I would be up and running within 5-13 days. I asked if this would still be correct since I needed wiring, and was told yes. They said they would send out the welcome pack and put through the connection order asap. They also said that connection could be done on a weekend, and I told them this was my preference.
Two days ago (16th), we hadn't heard or received anything from Telstraclear, so I rang them to see what the delay was. The operator said they posted the welcome pack on Saturday and it should be there on Tuesday (17th) if not already. Regarding the connection, they said they were waiting on a response from their wholesaler, and would have this in 24 hours.
Yesterday (17th), there was no mail from Telstraclear. So I rang up the broadband sales team. I told them that they were fast running out of time as Saturday is the 13th day. They said the 5-13 days is only a guideline (despite never mentioning this till after I'd joined up!). They then said the welcome pack doesn't get sent till after I'm connected, despite what I'd been told above. They also said the connection order had been put through on the 14th, a whole 5 days after (if this is ASAP then I'm the Queen of England). I asked when am I getting connected, and they said Tuesday pm. I said that's not a time, that's half a day. I said that's not really going to suit, so can I call the installer to arrange a time myself. They said no, as they don't know who it will be yet. They said if the installer visits and I'm not home then they will leave a card for me to contact them to arrange another time. To me, this sounds stupidly inefficient, so I told them so, and that I am not going to wait till next tuesday (15 days after joining) just to get an appointment to install. I told them to get the installer to ring me first, not on the day of, to arrange a time. Hopefully they will, but I won't be suprised if they stuff up yet again. I hope they aren't expecting me to pay my bills on time every time given their very liberal definition of time.
Sorry for the rant, but is this normal for Telstraclear or what?
And does anyone know away to get them to get their a into g?
