Is anyone else on TelstraClear cable (or perhaps ADSL too) having issues accessing the streams here on the TVNZ site?

The 15-30 sec advert videos play fine for each channel, but the main coverage stream doesn't start for me once the ad finishes. I suspect I know what's going on but want to see if anyone else is having access issues. I've tried accessing the videos from another ISP and they play just fine.

This problem has started for me only in the last 48 hours. I had no access issues for the previous 12 days of coverage.

I am on cable, and cannot access any of their live streams.

not even directly here http://images.tvnz.co.nz/tvnz_video/windows/one_sport/

All of the pre recorded ones work fine.

I've had problems with Firefox since day 1. Sometimes it'll work (you know it will as the small streams in the other windows work as well), sometimes it don't.

Internet Explorer works every time.

Ever since Friday morning I found that my access to the high quality streams had been blocked with a message stating that the high quality stream "is restricted to ISPs that interconnect with our hosting provider in New Zealand" and that I should choose a slower stream or contact my ISP.

I sent a message to TVNZ about it and got the response:

The issue for you watching our Olympics video in high-quality is due to TelstraClear/Paradise serving from the USA, which makes your experience less than optimal. TelstraClear choose not to peer with TVNZ domestically.

I was confused by that since my experience with the live streams was perfect for 12 days prior to that.

Anyways, I still had access to the standard stream, until today. For most of today, none of the streams have loaded. Now whether this is related to the "peering" issue menitioned above, I don't know, though I can say the streams are fine outside of TCL, unless people from other ISPs have issues, but I haven't heard of any so far.

A traceroute to live.tvnz.co.nz from my cable connection does go via LA, and it seems TVNZ doesn't like this. Exactly why after 12 days of coverage they take action to block it on the HQ streams is interesting. I've contacted TelstraClear and appreciate that there's nothing they can do right now if TVNZ is, in fact, blocking the standard quality streams now too.

Anyways after 5 hours of trying, I have intermittent access to TVNZ1 and TVNZ2, but it's channels 3 and 4 I want and I still can't get them. I don't know how much longer my access will last, but what's going on here is fustrating to say the least.

Would appreciate info on whether others have access.

I was going to post about this also. With either IE7 or FF I cannot access any of the pre-recorded streams. I see the ad and that's it. I have been able to see live streaming though. For recorded highlights I have gone to the US site which has a better selection but it's a tad laggy as you might expect and I was forced to install Silverlight since that is what NBC have chosen as their media player.
