Hi, regarding topic discussed in April about getting files to read from your computer to your Vodafone 715 3G mobile (with an SD card), I have recently purchased the phone but cannot seem to access any files I put on my phone, be they mp3 or j-peg. Could this be because I am using a mac? I can see the phone as a removeable drive on my desktop but all it allows me to do is drop files onto it (as you would a flash drive) and when i go to the phones files it will not even let me access the SD card. Any suggestions???
As long as the format is universally recognised by the phone (JPG/MP3 etc) you shouldn't have any issues. However that phone is an utter POS, or so I've been told, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's just faulty.
The mp3s etc need to go in a very specific folder on your memory card to show up on your phone. If you open up your memory card on your computer I believe there will be a folder starting with h (three letter word). Open that up and there will be a directory of Music, Photos etc. Put your files into the applicable folders.

I have had no problems with mine, It's a bit quirky in places and graphics could have been better, the keypad is a bit cheapy feeling and the LCD is a bit ho-hum but for the price it's utterly fantastic and very solid although very slippery.. Also Chinese SMS support is top-notch being a Chinese phone, also it allows MMS sending of MIDI and mp3 files, something the big N seems to "disallow" for no reason.
Nokia and Ericsson and their horrible custom connectors should take a leaf from Huawei, This phone uses standard USB connector and has a 3.5mm headset jack.
The phone has files go in specific folders under a master folder called \HW\ (Huawei) \100VFONE\ - pictures and videos taken \Applications\ - java apps \Games\ - java games \Music\ - Music files \Ringtones\ - MIDI/mp3/aac/amr/qcp Ringtones \Music\ - Music files \Music\ - Music files
Thanks for your help, however, being that I use a mac, the folder called HW (?) cant be opened on my computer, also, i cannot open or access the memory card on my phone at all it seems. For example, when I set the camera to save pics to the card it tells me that there is no card. However it does recognise it on the phone as the icon for it appears in the "My Files" part and on the main screen. Could it be that there is a communication problem between the card and the phone??? And regarding the Mac issue, does any one else have this problem?? Supposedly there is a set up CD available that didn't come with the phone, but so far I have been unable to track this down. Even so, I doubt it would be formatted for a Mac, no? Thanks though, I'll keep hunting.
PS The phone can only be accesed via the computer when an SD card is in, other wise it just charges and nothing appears on my computer. (Sorry I am rather technologically impared) Just to check, is this normal? Thanks.
I'm glad to hear a positive review for a change paradox. Perhaps it's just that easy btown? I would advise though, if anything seems obviously wrong, to take it back ASAP and get a recplacement - preferably to a different brand.
