Does anyone know if Vodafone can/will activate a second port on my ONT to enable me to connect a second modem?

I want to have a separate gateway for business related testing of cloud devices.

Cheers

John

Most ISP's will do a second port activation for you these days. You just need to request it.

VF would be one I would probably avoid though as they can't even really do the basics sometimes haha...

I think secondary services are limited to 100mbps though - or is that no longer the case?

apparently no longer the case - but I believe the max obtainable speed for all devices wont exceed 1Gbit

It's worth noting for the larger providers are probably all B2B based, and not always able to consume the kinda adhoc way chorus currently have this.

once their existing projects to deliver those available options  i suspect we will see this used more.

But it's also very tough for them to build in such functionality, It's a rare usecase.

Vodafone told me that the 2nd port cannot be activated and I have to get another fiber line into house along with associated ONT box. Is that correct?

It will depend on how the primary connection is set up. Feel free to PM me some details.
