I've recently moved to Vodafone broadband and have got Vodafone TV, so I cancelled my old Sky subscription. Stupidly, I didn't realise there was no Windows app or browser version of Vodafone TV like there is for SkyGo.

I've tried running Vodafone TV on android emulators Bluestacks and Memu but get error messages:

"Device Security Detection

Sorry, can't use this service on an unsecure device. Please ensure a supported operating system is being used (MG007)"

Does anyone know of a way to get Vodafone TV running on an emulator or otherwise on a PC?

The New Zealand Vodafone TV runs Linux not Android so this will not work.

Thanks, but I mean running the Vodafone TV android phone app. So I've got Bluestacks android emulator installed on a Windows laptop. I can download and install Vodafone TV app from Google Play, but when I open the app in Bluestacks I get the error message in my first post.

Sounds like the app doesn't like being ran as root or has detected root.

Would there be any way around that? I'm no expert on this stuff but I'm not sure Bluestacks is rooted.

I've also tried the MEmu emulator which lets you switch root on and off, but I get the same message (except with code MG004) either way.

Yes bluestacks has root. You need to use a device that isn't rooted. Most if not all emulators have root. Probably no way around this.

Right. That’s a shame.

Any other good ideas about how to get Vodafone TV on a PC? I just want to be able to watch on a big screen in a different room to where I’ve got the Vodafone box.

Buy a second box? I think the recordings are accessible from either but it would mean potentially paying for Sky on that second box if they’re on one VTV account.

The reason I changed to Vodafone was to pay less overall for fibre, broadband and mobile. I just want to watch Sky Sport in more than one room like I did with SkyGo. That didn’t cost any extra.

I hear that Android apps will work on Windows 11 when that comes out, so maybe I’ll have to wait until then.
