Hi.

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could buy a 6-digit Vodafone mobile number from? I'm setting up a business and want something easier to remember for my customers... any ideas anyone?

A phone number doesn't have to be 6 digits to be easy to remember. My phone number is 7 digits (excl area code), but is probably easier to remember than > 99.9% of 6 digit phone numbers.

Going on contract, do Vodafone still let you pick your own number if it is not allocated? I believe they used to so that you could transfer from telecom only changing the area code, not sure if this extended to picking a number just because you like it. If so, you could pick a word number, or, there is bound to be some good combinations you could come up with.

Getting a 6 digit number would probably involve taking over someone else's number, that could mean you are receiving calls that are not for you that could be irritating (at least in the initial period of ownership).

They are very hard to get, I had to "return home" one I ported to 027 to get 6 digits.

Mine goes "offline" on the 6th (transferred to prepay) as I have stopped using Vodafones services now.

There are plenty of 6 digit numbers in the system you just need to know how to look

Also with "transferring" numbers, it may be much easier to switch it to prepay and then pass on the simcard and then switch it back to "account" in the new users name. saves the legal "transfer".

Do check with Vodafone (a atore or JohnR) first as there may be a system reason preventing however.

My number is easy but a number of people have it, I have two more but they are word numbers.

All of our work mobiles (Vodafone On-Account) are 021+7 and have been for some time. This may be because we have a large number of mobiles (read hundreds) on the account and many are in a similar number range rather than a shortage of 021 + 6. My personal number is 021 +6 and I ain't giving it up any time soon!

I've got a 6 digit which i've just cancelled as it was the one on my vodem. Would like to keep the number as it's quite a good one. Pretty sure I can't change it from contract to prepay though? Otherwise it'll be up for grabs from the 15th :)

No, but you can move it to telecom. No idea on moving it back to a plan or prepaid on vodafone since I have not had reason to try it yet.

That's some maths going on there - I tried to work out what the number might be and gave up after about 3 minutes - very frustrated
