We have just purchased a Telecom HTC Snap, that we are using with a Vodafone SIM, and have ran into an issue with SMS messages.

When sending an SMS message, it will send successfully but stay in the Outbox. Every 10 minutes or so it will then resend all the messages in the outbox. This will keep reccuring until you go into the Outbox and delete the messages.

I have been through every setting I can think of, and trolled the net for info, but have not found a fix as of yet.

Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Thanks.

Does same SIM work in another handset?

You advise you have checked the settings can you list what you have checked?

Hi John,

Yes, the SIM works fine in other handsets.

I have tried toggling the SMS Sending method between GSM and GPRS. I have toggled the options for saving a copy of sent items, including a copy of original message, request delivery notifications, use unicode etc. All options have made no difference.

i considered that it may have been an issue with an older SIM (32k), so we had it swapped for a 256k SIM with the same result. I have also tried a different SIM entirely from my SP5 running WinMobile 6.5 with the same result.

I am thinking that perhaps the Telecom ROM that the device is using has some of the SMS information coded into it, rather than storing it on the SIM. And when it sends an SMS, it never gets the acknowledgement that it has actually been sent successfully.

Thanks.

Have you updated the SMSC number?

SMSC number is listed as +6421600600, which I believe is the correct number for Vodafone NZ.

Thanks.

I seem to have fixed the problem by restoring factory defaults on the device. Perhaps replacing the SIM fixed the cause of the problem, but the phone had to be reset to get rid of the gremlins.

Thanks guys.

I had the same problem on Telecom. It's an issue with the phone itself. For anyone else reading this with the same issue, see here for a fix: http://www.htc.com/www/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=638&news_id=225.

I also did a hard reset of the device first, which didn't work. Yet to see if this is truly successful, but it's a good start! Only took more than 3 hours of being on the phone or instore at Telecom, who obviously hadn't come across the problem before. Then in the end I stumbled across the link above myself, purely by luck while looking for something else, came up when I googled 'HTC snap manual'.
