Hi everyone, I'm hoping for some advice with respect to the best hardware setup for Xnet Fusion.

Moving house this Saturday so decided to take the opportunity to swap across to the Fusion service. Currently I have a USR 9108 ADSL2 router and would prefer not to upgrade this if possible. However looking at the Xnet site all the recommended VOIP adapters seem to be out of stock with retailers on pricespy. Any ideas where I can buy these?? I had been considering the WAG310G as a last resort but that's out of stock everywhere too!

Any help appreciated :)

Today I happen to walk through Dick Smith, Pakuranga and saw a couple of VFX pre-configured adapters. I'm sure other stores will also have. PB Technologies has the PAP2T available (but keep in mind it is the budget model). There is an SPA2102 on TradeMe. Careful with PAP2T on TradeMe, many are -NA models which does not work with XNet. In the last month there were 4 TradeMe listings for AG310, a very good choice, and some sold for very cheap even new.

Thanks Niel, is there much of a difference between PAP2T and SPA2102? I don't have a need for faxing.

Reading the Xnet site I understand that with the PAP2T it has two telephone ports set up for independent phone lines. I only need one phone line but have a couple of phones that I'd like to use. Can I just use a double phone adapter and plug both phones to the one line?

PAP2T has only lower quality CODECs (coder/decoder) where as the SPA2102 includes the higher quality CODECs. As far as I know the SPA2102 is designed for wiring in series with your network so it manages QoS (quality of service, or prioritising of voice data) where as the PAP2T plugs into your router as another device and relies on your router to handle the QoS (I'm 80% sure of this). My impression from this forum is that the PAP2T is harder to get working (not very hard, just somewhat harder than the SPA2102). The PAP2T is old and a budget model.

You can use an adapter. Can't remember the maximum number of phones you can plug in, probably 2 or 3. I would recommend an "old school" 1.8GHz DECT cordless phone. You can get them for $40 or less from Dick Smith, and is the best performing cordless phones on the market. It uses a proprietary certified module with it's own allocated frequency band shared with nothing else, where as all other phones use 2.4GHz (and other) "free for all" bands which are shared with WiFi, baby monitors, video senders, etc. Note WDECT is not the same as DECT, what you are looking for 1.8GHz DECT. And charge your phones overnight, then take it off the charger - leaving on charge damages the batteries. My phones last 10 days on one charge.
