I found the cellpjone in a carpark with no simcard, it looked as if it had been sitting there for quite sometime, it was hot and has a crack back, it may have been run over or maybe someone left it on their roof... Any how I put my simcard in it and it was saying code restricted on it. I felt that someone must have tried, in order to get it this far and maybe it was just a "4show fone" or a kids toy?... I then entered 5 dud codes off the net and now it says phone restricted. Can anybody help me unlock a strangers fone... Your help is much appreciated... Chairs, tables n picnic baskets

There is a good possiblity that the phone was lost by someone.

I'm not to sure what the exact protocol is, I'd suggest handing it into the police and say that you found it. Alternatively if it was in a shops car park, I'd suggest taking it into the shop and saying that you have found it
(When I'm working, I get this all the time but with wallets, phones, bank cards, credit cards etc).

Most likely the Phone lock is trigged when you put in a different SIM card in. Not 100% sure with the Nokias. I know with my handsets they are set up to prompt for a pin if a different SIM is inserted otherwise they prompt for the SIM card pin.

Doing the right thing(tm) would be good as chances are someone has lost that phone.

Take it to your nearest Vodafone dealer and hand it in.

Maybe your grandmothers best friend had it stolen from her handbag, and is lost without it. She could need it for a medical emergency.

You will never know if that is the case, but just imagine....

Putting your SIM into a phone that could potentially be marked as stolen isn't a wise idea. It may draw unwanted attention to yourself.

I know if I lost* my phone I'd get it barred if possible.

* Stolen or missing.
