Hey Guys,

I am looking at switching to TC for my home phone and broadband. I am looking at the 30GB (or 25GB i think not sure what it was) and adding a static IP as I run a small mail server etc.

Can anyone comment on how good they are as an ISP, just be using internet mainly for browsing, little bit of bittorrent and some youtube mainly.

Cheers

I think they're a fantastic ISP. Their service is nice and fast and they don't have any backhaul issues.

The problem you WILL have with them though is if you do have a fault, you've got zero chance of speaking to anyone with clue. If their call centre is even slightly busy the automated robot lady will say "we're too busy!" and hangup on you.

Great service run by smart people, let down by terrible, woeful, unthinkably bad customer support. Honestly, if you have a fault just speak to your kettle because it'll provide better support.

If you know what you're doing (i.e. can diagnose that PPP has gone away so you know there's no point calling because it's obviously broken) then you'll be fine.

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

OOOHHHH HYPERFIBRE!

Perfect, thats exactly what I wanted thanks...

Yea but then some experiences on the phone with telecom have been equally as frustrating. Normally I can tell when its a my problem or a them problem etc haha.

Thanks for the great advice :)

Cheers

Question guys, does anyone on here know a better number I can contact TC on. I have switched my phone and internet to them, and they told me I would have an email saying when switchover would occur. I was never given this info and one day my internet just stopped. I rang them and was told it would be going within the hour etc. I have now rung them over 8 times in the last 3 days (whilst having no internet) and been told 8 different answers ranging from it will be working soon to it wont be working until Monday night. This is completely unacceptable seeing as I was never told it was going to be off and I really just want a straight answer etc.

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers

From recent memory...

~6 months it took them to fix routing to gaming servers in Australia that was going via Hong Kong.
~12 months to resolve their youtube performance issues.

Transparent caching on all web traffic causes issues with various sites.

I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting.
