I just bought a Panasoinc X400 off trade me, and the phone will not recieve pxts or ringtones! It could be something as simple as adjusting the settings on it, and I can't be bothered going into a vodafone store to see whats wrong..If anyone can help me with this i'd appreciate it..Thanks:-)

If purchased from a vodafone store it should work out of the box if purchased from a importer go back and request help from place of purchase not vodafone.

Heya:-)..Thanks for the replies. I paid $245.00 for the phone, the seller told me the rrp for the phone was $399 at the moment, and he supposedly bought it brand new 12 months ago for $599???I think the best thing to do would be to return it to the seller, but i'm unsure if I can get refunded as I purchased it off trade me...These faults werent mentioned in the auction though:-(..This phone has caused me alot of headaches already, and i've only had it since Friday:-(..But anyway, thanks so much for the replies:-)

I would try and get the seller to take it back (fat chance), and leave bad feedback if they dont. Your other option is to find the geekiest staff member you can find at a store, and tell them that customer support said that "even if you took it home for a few days, you wouldnt figure out how to make it work", then let him take up the challenge...

It should work, i've done a lot of X400 parallel imported phones, they all worked. Here's what you should do:

First go to Settings > Data Connnections > create new profile

Choose GPRS
Name: Vodafone Live
Account: blank
Password: blank
APN Name: live.vodafone.com
Auth type: None

then save and activate.

Then go to Browser > Options > Settings > WAP Profile > Create new

Profile Name: Vodafone NZ
Homepage: http://live.vodafone.com
Gateway: 172.030.038.003
Port: Non-secure
Data Connections: Vodafone Live

then for MMS

Messages > Settings > MMS > Advanced

Message server : http://pxt.vodafone.net.nz/pxtsend
Profile: Vodafone NZ

that's it! try it. and if i missed anything, just share with us the error message

enjoy!

Hey guys, thank you so much for that! I've gone through all the settings that were stated..But I still can't open my ringtones or pxts???..The "polyphonic" ringtones i've downloaded wont play, but the "realtones" I downloaded do play..Would it be better to go back to the vodafone live site and try downloading another ringtone with my new settings and see if they will play??(and be charged AGAIN for a ringtone that wont play)..Also, I still can't open the pxts that were sent to me..Should I get another sent to me?? Sorry for the DUMB questions, I just know nothing at all about phones, hense the reason I thought i'd consult the very knowledgable people on here! :D Thanks again:-)

About the MMS you can't open - are you receiving the PXT and can't play, or are you just receiving a SMS saying there's a PXT and you have to go to a website?

I'd say you need to have it's firmware upgraded. But it's better to contact the seller, and send them back.

If its a IMPORT handset you will need NZ firmware this is not caused by the settings on the handset.
