Hi there,

I like most of you was delighted when Telstraclear increased the cable internet speed and doubled the monthly cap from the 1st of October.

In the first few days my download speeds were about 10MB and also a pretty good upload speed.

However, in the past 2 weeks my speeds have dropped to around 3MB download and less than 2MB upload. I have done speedtests in the early morning and evening and there is not a significant difference in speeds. My upload speed is now so slow that my upload video on skype freezes after about 30 seconds.

Has anyone else in Wellington noticed this gradual slow down since the beginning of October or is mine an isolated case?

Speeds seem constant for me. Have you tested this with no other PCs connected? If you use a router, have you restarted it? And have you scanned your PC for malware lately? Checked startup items to see that anything strange is there?

Yip, I've tried all of them.

My PC doesn't seem slow in general, I only noticed the speed problem when my skype calls couldn't upload the video stream fast enough. After about 30 secs my video would freeze on the other persons screen and it has happened calling different people at different times of day.

After running speedtest.net I presume that the issue is caused by slow upload & download speeds which should not be happening considering the recent increase.

My connection speed has been flakey at best of late. Extremely bad in the evenings, like less than 1mb/s, and then 'only' climbing to 6-7mb/s. The latter is perfectly adequate for day to day stuff, except it's not what I'm supposed to be seeing.

Having contacted TCL, they told me to fit line filters... for a cable modem... have yet to follow that one up.
