I seem to be getting missed calls and no txts with my iphone 4.  It can last for hours at a time and happens almost daily.

I've seen that it can be related to apps accessing data and the voice/txt not cutting off the data transmission?  I also read somewhere that it's how Vodafone priorities data over voice?

Anyhow, if I move to XT is this going to stop?  It's getting beyond a joke and I get no help from Vodafone - just promises that their iphone team willl 'call me back' but nothing.

- what area are you in?
- hows your signal?
- happens with 2G and 3G?
- running 4.2.1?
- jailbroken? hacked?
- do out bound calls work when in bound calls don't?

I'm in Hauraki, North Shore
Signal strong, problem happens regardless of where I am (or so it seems)
Can't use 3G as I had more problems with that switched on, more dropped calls
Yes running 4.2.1
Not jailbroken or hacked
Yes outbound calls work

simple test.

1) buy an XT prepaid micro SIM card. ($30, but comes with $30 of credit)
2) try it out.
3) either stay with voda or move to XT depending on the result.

Ime missed calls and texts happen only on 2G. The lack of good urban 3G with vf make it hard to use, as does the inability of the iphone being set to 3G only.

3 people I know who moved to xt are happy except that they have to carry a crap stoner phone on vf for their cheap vf friends to txt.

Have you reported this to VodafoneNZ?

The issue will not be apps accessing data

I have no idea where you read about data having priority over voice but that is incorrect.

Voice has priority over everthing SMS , Data

Shouldn't the IP4 have good 3g coverage on both 900 and 2100 networks? I don't have any issues using 3g only, not iPhone though.

Yes I've reported it, twice, and i've been told and I would hear back from somebody and still haven't.

How long ago did you report it?

Have you got the ticket numbers?

Last week - no I didn't get ticket numbers from either call. They just took my details, told me queue with iphone team was too long and that someone would call me back.

You sound like you might know what issue if it's not the apps. The guy at Voda says after every day he too has to close down all his apps running in the background and do a hard reset on his iphone.

Sounds like apps to me?

No its the Apps Voice and data are different layers on the network (so to say)

If you have calls going to Voice mail I would say it might be a issue on the serving cell

You say you reported it last week but what day?

I have the same issue (for 6 months now) at my home and nowhere else. Reported the fault twice, was told to just use my iPhone on 2g only. Sounds like great tech support to me. Was also promised call backs twice. Never happened.

Have you taken your handset off 2G/GSM only?

I never put it on 2g..... That may well be the way to "fix" the issue, but I didn't buy an Iphone to use it like a nokia 5110 :)
