I've just bought a nec 818 off trade me and i'm just tryin to do some homework. Can't find any info on one. wondering how hard it will be to set up? Any ideas for appropriate sites to learn about this product would be appreciated. cheers

Can't find anything on Google... Is this a Pocket PC or Windows CE device?

The only "818" recently launched was the Dopod 818 (HTC Universal). But it's not branded as NEC.

Here is a listing of one on Trademe. It has a large 3 on it. So i checked out the 3 website and they have a couple of NEC devices. Nothing like this one which looks to be quite old.

Hunted round all the global NEC sites but couldnt find anything remotely similar. Sorry but thats about all there is.

If you search Trademes old listings there is quite a few of them

Oh, I wouldn't touch that! This is a 3 (Hutchison) handset, most likely locked down. And with no support or warranty in New Zealand or when using in another network.

Surely that wouldnt be any different to using any other imported device on the VF network. It could probably be unlocked or 3 could be asked to unlock it. Most providers will unlock older devices without too much hassle.
