recently I saw the plans offered by Warehouse Mobile and thought they are quite flexible and good ones, so decided to join them. Bought a WM SIM card, and popped it in to my mobile phone. Then found out its mobile data connection didn't work as the APN settings (both for internet and MMS) were auto picked up from 2Degrees not WM (well, WM is on 2D's network). After contacting the customer service a few times, it eventually got sorted out, seems all worked (calls, txts, surfing online, didn't try MMS though).

So I decided to bring my existing number to WM. The second day, I received a txt on my mobile from WM telling my number had been moved to WM successfully. Ok, it sounds good, but then I found out I was able to call others and the display number on others' was my old number which is good, but when others called me, always heard the voice message "We didn't recognised the number, please check and try it later" and couldn't get through! Apart from that, my mobile couldn't send out any txts and received any txts as well.

After calling WM customer service, they said give another 2 hours or so, or overnight it'd fine. But it wasn't. Then the next day, called them again, I was told that my old number is partially brought to WM successfully, and it was up to 2 days to fully complete. So they asked me to wait another 2 hours as it'd be 2 days past then. But when 2 days time passed exactly, it still didn't work! So after 3 days past, I called them again, this time the customer service took it seriously. After consulting their tech team, he told me that he tried to send txt to my mobile and failed in getting it through, their tech team would solve my issues as soon as possible as it'd been a few days already. It got sorted after another half day eventually which is good at least.

Later I'd like to turn off my voicemail. The customer service told me that they cannot turn off the voicemail, there is no such feature they offered, but I could instead just block others to leave voice messages. So it ends up, if my friend calls me and reaches the voicemail then they hear the voicemail greeting first followed by the message of "Leaving a message has been blocked" blabla..., my friend will still get charged because the call has got through even cannot leave a message. how funny this feature is!

By the way if I set my mobile to the flight mode, calls will be redirected to the voicemail immediately. I also asked to increase the ringing duration before voicemail picks up from 30 second to 50 second so less chances to miss a call and goes to the voicemail as well, but was also told that WM cannot do it. Well with my previous mobile provider, both requests were sorted out at the same time within a few minutes.

I wonder why the experience is so hard. Cannot be difficult to disable the voicemail at client's request, isn't it? Wish WM could improve their service as they've got good products.

I migrated from wife from 2D to WH and had no issues, however I did not have a requirement to disable VM

I was considering doing the same due to their casual rates being excellent but just noticed that it they say prepay credit expires after 30 days. Since their minimum top up is $10 it would seem I require to spend at least $10 per month - I'm waiting for them to reply to my question on that

I think 2 degrees is quite happy to give customer who spend less than $10 / 3 months ($3.33/month) to other telcos.

Clearly they are

The irony is WH mobile area an MVO of 2D i.e. same network.

With 2D casual rates are 44c per min for voice, 20c per txt, 50c per MB, 1GB pack = $20

With WH mobile casual rates are 4c per min for voice, 2c per txt, 6c per MB, 1.25GB pack = $8

For the same thing from the same network operator

I had the same experience. Took me quite a while to figure out what was going on. Resolution was also a pain as the website (link) wouldn't send the correct settings to my phone.

The other thing that confused me was that a top-up didn't extend the expiry of the $5 join credit. A call to customer service resolved that problem.

The exact same experience I had. But once setup correctly, I like the simplicity of using WM.

WH Mobile could certainly be worth while for those that do a bit of shopping at TWH. Was in the Motueka Warehouse yesterday and they were playing an add saying if you spent over $100 you got a $10 WHM topup for free. If this promotion was semi regular you could easily get a free mobile with a bit of bulk standard shopping at TWH. Worth it for the experience of OP though...

but i really cannot believe they make us not be able to turn off the voicemail. It's just such a simple feature.

I have heard it in Auckland. Is it only available in Motueka?

Your guess is as good as mine. I doubt that Motueka WH could run a campaign like this off their own accord? Haven't been to any Chch WH stores since returning to town to check.
