Problem: I use my iPhone (Vodafone account) for personal use and for the two businesses that I run. When somebody calls, I can't tell if they are trying to reach me personally or one of the businesses, so have to just answer with my name and try (often unsuccessfully) to guess what/who they want.

Question: is there a service out that there that could provide a virtual phone number for each of the businesses AND let me know through caller ID or even just a distinguishing phone number that I could store in my phone, which business an incoming call is for?

How are the 3 numbers currently getting to your phone?,

Do you have a permanent call forward on the business ones sending calls to your personal number?

But in any case pretty sure if you ported the work numbers to a voip service, and then used a voip app on your phone you would know which line was calling...

They are all dialling the same number!

I'd like to give the two businesses a different number to use (not hard in itself), but when I used the Vodafone virtual number that came with my account for one of the businesses, I couldn't tell that the call was coming via that number.

I really need to know how to answer a call when it comes in.

Not really a solution for your problem because it can't easily be integrated without you getting a PBX and porting the numbers to it, but building a solution for somebody that overcomes the issue with Asterisk which was pretty simple. When they answer their mobile they get a recorded message from the PBX introducing the call and what number it's for (the caller is just getting a ringing or MOH). Once they press 1 the call is then connected.

I'm sure someone can point you towards a cheap one that you can use, I know of people running their own instances of things on amazon and only spending a few bucks a month on them all up. I was looking into that before deciding to just stop accepting phonecalls as the best way to deal with them.

You can do it in FreePBX but what I did requires custom coding. It's not simple.

Buy 2 VOIP lines from 2talk.

Download the 2talk app and the Bria app.

Load one number into the 2talk app and the other into the Bria app.

Depending on which app rings, determines which way you answer the call.

I have no experience with the Bria app, so there is a possibility you could load two voip accounts into just the one app and do away with the 2talk iOS app.
