Hey folks! I've been traveling your beautiful country for 7 months now and am settling down in Golden Bay, Patons Rock area to be precise.

I'm on the fence between Vodafone and Spark for home internet. Hoping to get some feedback if anyone has any to offer. It seems both providers have pros and cons on certain areas according to my search on this forum but I didn't get a clear understanding of what it's like I'm this particular area between Spark and Vodafone.

Looks like quite a bit of that area can get ADSL/VDSL, so if you are going with that option they'll both be via Chorus so there shouldn't be any difference in performance between ISPs, thus I'd hands down say Spark wins because Vodafones customer support can be so bad.

If you are looking at cellular/wireless, Spark appears to offer the better coverage based on the coverage maps.

There is pretty good VDSL2 coverage in that area. If you're outside that footprint I wouldn't opt for either Vodafone or Spark for home internet, I'd opt for the local WISP.

How do you search for local providers and reviews of their service in such an area?

Broadbandmap.nz is probably the best option for seeing what is available at any address in the country.

Put the address into the Chorus address checker for a start

Except if it's serviced by a small wisp :)

hopefully the process gets easier for those at some stage.
