As we are extending our 2talk phone network, I am looking at some secound hand VOIP phones, I was looking at eather the Cisco 7940G or the Cisco SPA504G

We will being using 2talks virtual PBX, so I am wonderign what peopel experiances are will these, is one better than the other or is there an alternate that I shold be considering, thank you in advance.

I never got the 7940 to work reliably with 2talk - it mainly came down to a NAT issue that just could never be resolved.

I DID get the 7940 working perfectly by running as asterisk server on-premises (which in turn connected to 2talk).

This removed the NAT issue as far as the phone was concerned.

7940's go pretty cheap now, but do require a bit of patience to get working.

Unless you've a VoIP expert (and the fact you're asking the question suggests you aren't!) you should avoid the 79xx range. They are not really designed up be used outside the CUCM product.

I've used the Cisco SPA50XG range of phones with 2talk without any issues and they were pretty easy to set up.

The Cisco 500 series will do the job well. Avoid the 501, it has no display so loses a lot of functionality.
I quite like new Yealinks, T4x series.
