Hi There,

Has anyone successfully followed the instructions provided on the 2talk website to auto-provision a Cisco SPA122 ATA.

I think I've tried every possible interpretation of these instructions and none have worked.  All I want to know is has anyone got a SPA122 working using these instructions.  If one person has been successful then I'll keep trying but if nobody has then I'll give up.

Thanks.............MAH

Yes it works.

Before you put the profile rule in to the SPA make sure you have gone in to the 2talk portal and added the device.

Also, don't be hasty to reboot the device. When you load the new profile rule it should reboot itself and then give it another 30 seconds and you will probably find it picks up the new settings.

So pleased to hear it does work.  Yes I had added the device in the 2talk portal under [Device Provisioning]  I will try again and leave more time between each step.

My LAN IP range is 192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.254.  My access PC is IP 192.168.1.90.  The device default IP is 192.168.15.1.  So to access the device I had to change my access PC to 192.168.15.90. I was then able to successfully access the device to insert the "profile rule".

Question 1 -  Should I bring the device into my LAN by changing the device IP from 192.168.15.1 to 192.168.1.xxx  ?

Question 2 - If yes to Question 1 then will I need to go back to 2talk portal and change the IP address under device auto-provisioning to 192.168.1.xxx  ?

Thanks for your help so far...............Murray

I have now figured out that I set my access PC to DHCP so it will automatically accept an IP address from the device.

I have done this.  The device has a solid green light for power and almost solid green (just the odd flick) for Internet.  When I lift the handset a green light comes on for each phone line be there is no dial tone.  When I log into the 2 talk portal there is no evidence of any connection to the device.  When I log into the device it doesn't appear like it has picked up any settings.  Any ideas on what I should try next ?

Thanks.............Murray

I've tried everything many times be still no luck.  I'm clutching at straws now.

1/ Should I try briefly turning off my fire wall to see if this helps diagnose the problem?
2/ Should I open a port on my modem?
3/ I've logged a trouble ticket with 2talk but they wont respond?
4/ Should I change my default Network settings in the device or will the profile rule sort this out?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks.................Murray

Neither A or B is going to do anything.

Assuming you have the correct MAC address loaded it's a simple matter of entering the correct provisioning rule. If this doesn't work you've done one of these 2 steps wrong.

If you need help configuring hardware or understanding VoIP, 2talk aren't necessarily the best option.

I was able to set up the Cisco SPA122 successfully using the manual entry method but I want to be able to use the device auto-provisioning method as I have quite a few units to set up around the country.  I must be putting in the correct profile rule because I cut and paste it as follows:   https://cprov.2talk.co.nz/linksys/$MA/spa122.cfg and I've loaded the MAC address many times.  I assume it isn't case sensitive.

It must be something very simple I'm doing wrong.  Does anyone know anyone in Christchurch who could help??

I have a fixed external IP address on my VDSL router/modem but can't see how that would change things.  I'm assuming all the default Internet settings in the Cisco SPA122 are left unchanged.

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated..................Thanks MAH

I don't have any other suggestions because I neither use nor recommend 2talk.

Thanks for your help anyway.  I would be interested to know who you use as your VOIP provided so I can appreciate other options.

I'm having exactly the same issue right now, unable to get the autoprovisioning to work.
In my case I'm using an SPA112, but it should use the same config.

If I try to go to the autoprovisioning URL from my browser directly, I get an SSL Protocol error, but if I use http instead of https I can get the config OK.

However specifiying http on the URL for the Profile Rule doesn't seem to help, I might try putting the file I downloaded into a local TFTP server and see if I can provision from that instead.

I was able to get my SPA112 to autoprovision by logging into the ATA using admin credentials, and then going to the following URL:

http://<IPAddressofATA>/admin/resync?http://cprov.2talk.co.nz/linksys/<MACAddressofATA>/spa1xx.cfg

It might work with $MA instead of the actual MAC address, but since I've gotten it to provision now I don't want to fiddle further.

Cheers

My understanding was a special Cisco signed SSL cert was required to use SSL on these devices, I wonder if that's the issue?

In the end I got sick of trying to get auto-provisioning working for Cisco SPA122 and used manual provisioning instead which is time consuming but at least works.

The manual instruction's I used are: http://blog.2talk.co.nz/spa122.html

Cheers..............MAH
