Please could anyone tell me who provides the cheapest DID number in New Zealand?

I am after an Auckland local number (Not 028 number which cost mobile prices!)

Xnet charge approx $12/mth, italk $10/mth , 2talk costs $15/mth, but there must be cheaper providers. Skype is cheaper but doesn't provide SIP calls.

I have found my netfone.com.au in Australia who charge Au $20/year for a AKL number but they need an Australian Credit card number and address. Neither of which I have.

Do you know any cheaper providers? Abroad they seem to cost much less.

MyNetFone are the cheapest option.

Where did you run into the requirement for an Australian credit card and address? I've signed up quite a few MNF accounts over the years for people and there are a lot of people on Geekzone who use the Australian company for Australian DDI numbers with no issues. You can just enter your address and something like NSW for the state or give them a ring and they'll sign you up over the phone.

Tried to sign up to basic mynetfone online the other day. They sent an email back saying had to phone through to confirm some details.

Called Mynetfone cust services today they said needed Oz Credit card & Oz address or 2 references from their. Shame as they seemed the cheapest to me too.

Maybe try again seeing you had no problems and see what happens.

Anyone else had similar problems or any other firms?

I've signed up my mother-in-law to MyNetFone a few months ago. It took about a week and she had to supply an Australian address (my sister-in-law's) and I had to talk to them - mainly because I already had an account with my New Zealand address.

I think they are making it hard for non-Australian residents to get their services these days.

Actually you can get a 2Talk incoming local number for $7 a month.

If you sign up to their "Go free" plan and then add an extra local number you will be charged their standard rate for an extra number, which is $7.

Another vote for 2talk here. Only gripe is that it's prepaid. I'd much rather recieve an account, even if I had to pay a few dollars more a month for the privilege.

(iTalk with the 2talk feature set would be perfect)

I agree with the postpay sentiment, although I do understand it takes more resouces to offer. Also, as they have the auto-top-me-up-when-I-get-below-$foo feature it's not as bad as it could be.

Yeah that is what I use now, and it works pretty well. I havent 'run out' of credit because that takes care of it, I guess there is additional risk etc with postpay too where some customers dont pay their bills, which unfortuantely increases the prices for everyone else. Certainly not unhappy with it just a preference as a good bill payer.

I would look at changing back to iTalk if they had the same feature set as 2talk as their network seems alot more robust these days.
