Hi,

Can anyone please help me? I have used Skype for about 7 years and have never had this problem in the UK before.

My broadband is 20mps band speed and I get between 11 - 19mbs average download but my upload test shows only 735kbs and Skype is not working properly. I hear my contact perfectly but the sound and call quality is very bad from my end (upload). I have tried everything that Skype suggests and contacted my IPS and NO ONE can help me..... I use my laptop for business as so many of us do now a days, but have to use Call2 to make any calls due to this problem. I am with Virginmedia and have always been with them and NEVER had this problem before.

My laptop is a Lenovo G550 bought in Egypt last year: Pentium DualCore CPU T4200 @2.00GHZ, 1.20GHZ 2.96GB RAM, and I run Win XP service pack 2

Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Straight away to me this doesn't seem like an upload speed issue if Call2 is working. Then again they use different codecs so would in turn use different amounts of up/down bandwidth. Has Skype been working fine on this connection previously? on this laptop?

Do you connect via wireless? Is it secure? Someone else on your network (possibly not legitimate) could be using some of your upstream bandwidth...

Well I did have problems using it in Egypt but then the goverment had blocked skype. Yes it is since I have this laptop that I am experiencing the problem. I am WEP secure for internet & even plugged in using the network cable I have the problem.

Has Skype ever worked on your new laptop? Also, do you have any firewall or some other kind of software blocking Skype installed?

All programs are the same as usual. Yes it was working well until the goverment in Egypt blocked it but since then no, it's not working very well. Cuts out and my voice comes and goes so the other person cannot hear me very well. I hear them perfectly though.
