Skype banned in China

Anyone else see this story?

I haven't heard anyone say that Skype is actually blocked in China yet, but it's going to be a real pain if it is. My company use Skype for all its internal calls and I travel to China regularly.

This seems doubly odd when you look at posts like this:

Apparently Skype had a back door that allowed Chinese authorities to snoop on conversations. I wonder if Skype have now closed this and China is retaliating?

I was talking talking to my father in china via skype just yesterday without drama. His company use skype too so this will hack them off...

The whole thing is getting out of control. What they are trying to do is to ban SkypeOut calls within china - that is to block calls from Skype to landlines.

It's way different of "blocking Skype completely" and obviously a protectionism measure trying to keep the landline call market captive to the state-run companies.

Sigh... you know what that means. No free calling = higher prices for everything we buy that's made in China! Companies will start upping their manufacturing price of products :P (Not sure whether I am being silly or serious... it's the holidays so I will let you decide... :P )
