hey people all new to this but a friend asked me about voip... they have naked broadband on telstra and have asked whats required too make it all work... sorry if this has been explained before but not my forte... thanks in advance

Basically:
An ATA - a box that plugs into your modem which you can plug a phone into like this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Computers/Networking-modems/Other/auction-353380308.htm
And a VOIP account - 2talk.co.nz for example which is around $10 a month for a local number

Buy a Linksys IP phone or ATA such as a SPA2102 and sign up with a VoIP provider. If they know nothing about VoIP I'd recommend VFX. Simply call WorldxChange, give them the MAC address of the device and you'll be up and running within minutes.

VFX +2 (not just +1). I have 2 lines with them, one for over 2 years and the other for maybe 5 or 6 years (since before nDSL was available). Both lines run great with no issues at all.

You can never have enough Volvos!

Yup VFX is best as its all remotely provisioned which is good!

I'm new to VoIP via ATA and went with VFX. Plug in and forget. Cheaper than my last phone provider too!
