I have been reading through the Voip forum and I see some of you have had success using Australian provider Pennytel. I decided to give this a try and I have signed up for an account with them.

I am having huge trouble getting things to work and their website is no help at all. I have tried out both their free softphone and X-lite and have had no sucess in making calls with either. I seem to always get the message "we're sorry. your call cannot be completed as dialed". I have credit on my account and I have been entering the phone number as 00644XXXXXXX. The phone seems to register ok.

I also think I have some port-forwarding/router issues to resolve - I got to the point described above only through bypassing my Linksys WRT54GC router and plugging the cable modem straight into my PC. What ports should I be forwarding? Anyone have any experience with this particular router?

Any help most appreciated! I am pulling my hair out!!

You router could well be an issue and port forwarding may be required.

First of all however I'd check the number you are dialling. '00' as an international access code is not the same in every country, in Australia to dial NZ you need to dial 0011644xxxxxxx and since Pennytel is an Australian provider this is what you need to dial.
