Hi guys, here is my problem that you might be able to help...

My Internet browsing is VERY VERY SLOW since i have cleaned my PC using CCleaner....well at least this is what i think it is...

I must be deleted some files without noticing it and now my IE pages opens after about 2-3 minutes. it is really bugging me and I can't do any work....

I have done so many scans last 2-3 days using all sorts of software but still no luck, I have got all the scans logs if any of you want to see them....

Anyone help me on this issue please....

Registry cleaners should not be used. They can remove important information from the registry and leave things like this. I had a problem with a registry cleaner removing Office information, and couldn't apply any updates after that.

Check if you can do a Restore to a previous point in time using the System Restore function. You can find it if you right-click My Computer on the desktop and click Properties.

@freitasm,I have done the System Restore (in-fact twice) but did not work, there must be something to fix this problem, I can't go on like this, it is VERY SLOW.....

@bugle, I really don't like Firefox, but thanks for advise anyway...

is it only IE that is slow or any other Internet applications are slow as well

did you clear IE cache and cookies, did you do restore defaults and reset web settings on IE

did you check for spywares or viruses

do you have a home network, some one else may be using the internet connection at the same time

what is registry cleaning got to do with your internet speed, that might probably optimise your system performance in a way but not your internet speed

YES DID ALL OF THEM
did you check for spywares or viruses
YES DID ALL THEM

NO NETWORK, STANDALONE PC
what is registry cleaning got to do with your internet speed, that might probably optimise your system performance in a way but not your internet speed

What version of IE are you using?

As posted before, most registry cleaners cause problems, and some of these are only solved by reinstalling Windows. There are some registry settings that control how many connections IE can create to each webserver at a time, what's the packet size, etc. If these get corrupted, well, you will get all sorts of bad stuff.

You already pointed out that you tried a restore point, so it pretty much closes the options for an automatic system fix. Your options now are using the IE menu option to restore its defaults.

You don't say what IE version you are using. If not using IE 7 yet, this is a good time to install it from the Windows Update site.

I use IE 6.0.2900.1800.xpsp SP2;

and I really don't like to use IE7 at all, because I have seen it on my friends PC and did not like it a bit, I would rather stay with 6...
So my options are limited as you say freitasm....is that mean last result; I have to use my Recovery DVD to recover Windows Xp Media Center 2005????

In one way or another, yes.

With Windows & other OS' that dont let you open up every panel & look at every bit of code, eventually you reach the point where you can't find whats wrong. It's just what you get.

I'm not meaning to troll about open source stuff but this is really a prime example of the difficulties of having a big bumbly mess of configuration, which might indeed be all good and correct initially but nobody can fix when its broked.

Although my advice would be to back up what ya can and format.

Thanks weblordpepe, but after all that cleaning and scanning for the virus, Trojan,spy-ware and worms it seems that my PC is working much better now and IE running fine ATM....so in terms of rollback, I leave it for now....

If you use CCleaner's Registry Cleanup functions, you should always elect to save the removed entries as prompted. This will save a .reg file containing the removed keys which you can merge back in later.

Gentlemen had some work done on another forum related to virus/trojan infection. It's quite possible CCleaner and the registry had nothing to do with the problem.
