Are we unable to purchase this now that W8 is out? I have some customers who want to go from W7 Home to Pro cost effectively.

It should still let users upgrade to Windows 8 but not for NZ$20 or NZ$50 anymore.

Do whatever you want to do man.

They don't want W8. Unless they can buy a W8 Pro license and downgrade.

I see what you mean. Either way, to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro and then downgrade back to Windows 7 Pro will still cost plenty of $$.

Buy Windows 8 Pro and leave it at that. Latest and greatest OS. If they really miss their start screen, install Start 8.

What about this product :

Can I upgrade from Windows 7 Home to Windows 8 Pro and use downgrade rights to get to Windows 7 Pro?

The new version of windows 8, blue, looks to be a vast improvement on 8, such as being able to resize tiles, and multi screen support. I still prefer windows 7 over 8, also 8 won't support a lot of my software.

Curious to know what software you have that works on 7 and not 8?

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

My version of MYOB accounting software, run it in XP Compatibility mode on windows 7

Also adobe CS 3 doesn't install on windows 8, but will on 7, something to do with the installer.

I still have a PC that runs windows 8, and I do like the look of the new updated windows 8 blue though, lots of extra customisation to the metro screen.

My understanding is Windows 8 Pro OEM has downgrade rights to Win7

In trying to find out how you get the Win7 key and media

I was told by Microsoft support that they don't give out keys or media for the downgrade, you have to supply your own.
They said you can use any media and key you can get your hands on so just find a pro key from anywhere and download the win7 ISO from digital river. Links can easily be found in google.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

It's fairly naff that MS have effectively blocked W7 upgrades so quickly.

I've been told that resellers should still be able to order the upgrades from distributors
