I've started getting these fake flash player update popups, for example when i refresh geekzone, it pops up with the following every time:

And when i go to facebook for example all i see is this

all the links are just # so they dont work and both the "Install" and "Remind me later" buttons redirect to download some .exe file.

Now i have tried to load these pages on 2 other computers and they both get the same thing, and when i connect my phone to the wifi, I also get the same thing on that.

I've done a scan with Malware bytes and Norton 360 and they both come up clean.

ok i think i managed to fix it, i can now load facebook and i dont get a popup from geekzone anymore

but i cant access my router settings with admin/admin so ill have to contact them.

Try using the ones automatically assigned by your ISP instead.

ive changed it to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and it seems to have fixed it for my pc

That won't fix it for all your other devices though. You need to update the DNS settings in your router, as these are most likely incorrect

yea i cant seem to access the router with admin/admin so i have to ring my isp tomorrow and sort it out.

Be aware.. changing your DNS to google's ones (8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4) will cause you to access more international data and less national as stuff which is on google/akamai which used come come from local caches will no longer and because its coming from overseas it may seem slower.

I suggest that customers always use the ISPs ones which are dynamically assigned on their connection when their router connects.

Hardcoding DNS Servers isn't always good. For example ICONZ's DNS Servers which people have hardcoded on their systems and then they have changed ISPS will no longer work shortly from outside their network and some people may find their internet no longer works. The same with people hardcodding Xtra's and other ISPs with open DNS Servers. Any Day they could stop working from outside their network.

Just go to www.adobe.com and download Flash from there. You should keep Flash updated as old versions have lots of vulnerabilities.

May be best to factory reset your router. As it is non standard for Vodafone, did you set it up originally or did some set it up for you?

If you set it up your self, just factory reset it and setup again. Then set your dns settings on your devices to dhcp.

If some one else set up your routerthey may have changed the default password. Check with them what the password is

Edit : sorry just realised that this modem is probably ex Telstra. It is likely the default password may have been changed.

yea it is an ex Telstra one.
