I brought this lil puppy back in august Nice machine but it has dam!! Vista installed I rang up the Toshiba NZ/AUS help desk and they told me that unfortunatly there is no roll back cd for this system but to install manually and using the xp drivers off the Toshiba UK site as there site dont list any drivers for XP only Vista. So over the weekend i Unpartition everything (Made a toshiba backup cd before hand) Tried to install XP and it wont pick up any of the HDDS but if you use 3rd party software (ultimate boot cd) it finds them ok. So heres my problem.
Do you have a Windows XP SP2 install CD or just Windows XP? The original Windows XP didn't have SATA drivers for example, so you will need to load those to continue installation.
ohh problem there this system is not fitted with a floppy drive. Question, why does this state of the art system require sata drivers when the computer (desktop hand built) that I brought the OS for runs sata hdds as well and has no problems finding them.
You'll need a USB Floppy, or you will have to slipstream the drivers onto your XP SP2 CD
Havent had this problem for a while now, i can only assume toshiba are using a 3rd party controller instead of a sata controller built into the southbridge like we see now days
My Desktop PC is the same as your laptop, but its 3yrs old.
ok im gonna give this a try so where abouts do i find these 3rd party drivers that i can run off a floppy cos i have no clue?
EDIT: is there anyone in the Hamilton disrtict that may allow me to borrow a usb floppy or even to use at there place to do this as i dont realy wana buy a usb floppy just to do this but if it comes down to it i will.
