Hello, I was helping a friend on her computer, Win XP Home, Outlook Express 6.  I removed some Dell logos and games she no longer wanted.  She also pointed to the top of the screen and asked why this Icon could not be on the bottom of the screen.  I moved it to the bottom.

She called the next day saying she could no longer send her emails in German to her sister.  She also stated the button I had moved was no longer anywhere to be found.  I checked her email, the encoding had many languages but no German, I looked at the Office docs and reloaded the languages portion of the files, German was included, however, after loading still no German.  She stated she always brought up her email account, clicked on this button and she was able to type her emails in German.

She also mentioned four keys on the keyboard that were special to the German language, I believe the four standard keys she referred to are: { } : " :, she mentioned on was the umlaut key.  If anyone can help in finding this button or giving me more info it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks from Arizona!!

Perhaps that was the Language Bar settings?

Open Control Panel, Regional and Language options. Check that German is listed, and make sure Language Bar options is set to Show.
