Hi - I ran a sample of a free "diskscrub" software package at the weekend (Cyberscrub's Privacy Suite - recommended by a friend - you can see this is going to end in tears already can't you?) on my Advent Media centre PC running Windows XP Media Center Edition (Service Pack 2).
After using the software it appears it has been far too harsh in it's cleansing of my PC, as when I first came to restart my PC it appears to have lost my user profile (it is not networked, and I was the only user on the system). When it comes to entering Windows it is entering me with a temporary profile.
I have been able to locate all of my old files on the hardrive, so they are still there, but when I look for my profile it is showing as "backup" rather than "local". I have managed to create a second profile to use temporarily so I don't need to keep coming in on a "temporary" profile (I know that sounds stupid - hope you know what I mean!), but I really need to get back my other profile. As I say, it is listed as there, but as "backup" rather than "local".
Any ideas on how I can change this, or if indeed this is the problem? I basically need to re-activate my old profile, but thus far I have not been able to manage it!
Any advice (other than stop listening to "friends"!) would be much appreciated! Oh, and sorry for waffling a bit!
Regards,
Steve
