Hi all

I've found two particular features of Windows 10, I believe these were rolled out during the recent major April 2018 update however I could be wrong about that

There is one in the Windows 10 settings area, under accounts and sign in "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart"

There is another one in control panel, under power options, change what my power buttons do (you need to allow for additional changes to be made) "Turn on fast startup (recommended)"

I turn both these options off. As far as I can tell, the Windows settings part controls the restart of your machine, and the power options part controls the shutdown. In essence, these are making your computer hibernate instead of completely resetting what information is on your memory. This in turn can cause issues when programs hang or device manager does weird things, etc etc etc.

I'd like to be able to roll these out in a quicker/more efficient way as I will be doing this across many machines in the future. So I was curious if anyone was able to point me in the right direction for registry settings, power shell commands or command prompt commands to shorten the process. I also welcome discussions on correcting my knowledge around when these features were rolled out, what they do, and if in fact I should be turning them off. I have had experience with machines having issues, restarting them with the features on, and the issue remains. I then turn these features off, restart, and the issue has resolved itself. As you will know, a good restart will resolve many odd issues, and these new features prevent it.

Thanks all

For setting one look here. For the fast boot one look here.

The Tenforums Tutorial index has a lot of this stuff documented. Just bring up that page and do a in browser search.

Thank you a bunch for that. Will post back here with what I end up using if I can find an easy and successful way out of what's there.
