OK lately I've been having problems downloading things. Mainly programs like website builders. I just tryed to download a free trial of Adobe Go Live 6.0 and it saves but then only will open as a windows media player file. This happens to all my downloads. Very occasionly they will download as a zipped file and I can extract the files. Anyone know what to do? its very annoying. I do know alot about computers, just this is one thing i cant get my head around

What version of windows are you using?

Have you checked to see what programs are associated with certain file types, to make sure they open with the correct program?

Doe this this happen with Internet Explorer?

Windows Vista

Yes i tried that. It only gives me the option to open in Media players. they should be saving as a file i can open to install. But all it does is try to play it as a video/sound file.

So you have looked at;

Start orb, Default programs, Associate a file type - and checked to make sure the extension is associated correctly?

When you right-click, properties on the downloaded files, what is the extension under the 'type of file' is it what you are expecting? Or is it being renamed?
