Hi All,
Quick help/advice question:
About a week ago I booted up our Win 7 computer in a completely normal fashion, logged in, and thought I'd surf the net. All completely normal so far.
Started Firefox (v3.5.8 at that time) and lo and behold, it starts up through the wonderous process of computerised software execution. But! Something is missing!!
As an aside at this point, I should state that I have been running a number of addons to Firefox up until this time, with no issues whatsoever. Chiefly, the del.ici.ous addon, Adblock plus, and Free Download Manager to speed up downloads.
These, as well as all my other addons, are missing. Don't show up in "Tools>Addons>etc...". Like they never existed.
So far so wierd.
Otherwise Firefox is running fine.
Do some research, and find a way of forcing Firefox to reinitialise the addon list (effectively reinstalling them) by deleting files from my Firefox user profile. Doesn't work.
Check at Mozilla and see there is an update to Firefox. Think, what the heck, I'll just reinstall it. Completely remove current version using ccleaner (great program), download and install Firefox v3.6.
Reinstall addons - everything appears hunky dory. Yay... problem solved.
...several days pass.
Today, boot up trusty(?!) computer, go through usual login rigamarole, start Firefox... Where are the sodding addons?!
Perhaps should add - slightly wonky security setup on home PC. Main anti-virus software is Norton 360 (2010 edition). However, firewall in that has been switched off as I prefer Comodo Internet Security, having used it for several years to fulfill all my firewall needs. The system has worked fine for nearly a year until the recent events detailed above.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!
Cheers,
Andrew
