Hi all, last time i used the microsoft backup software it kept wanting me to create a boot disc which i could never get created and then the backup was limited to "my Documents Folder" I lost all my emails and other files that i had, and all my main setting for windows. I would like to try somthing else that will back up my system to my external drive and all my files without the problem of creating the boot disc every time i want to do a backup. has anybody got any recomendations for a good freeware package??
Hi, I use fbackup http://download.cnet.com/FBackup/3000-2242_4-10907579.html?tag=mncol
You can pick and choose which folders you want backed up which was very important to me. If you want an incremental backup, choose mirror or it backs up the whole thing again every time.

I use Cobian for doing simple home backups (where I don't want any compression - just straight copy) and Macrium Reflect (free version) for imaging an entire drive.
In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.
Thanks for the replies Downloaded cobain V10 its nice and simple to use. Been setting up my outlook files to backup. Need to figure out how to backup my windows settings now or do i just backup the whole of C: ??
Handy Backup can do it well, it's reliable software for backup to external drives. I have used several backup programs for years, and I recommend Handy Backup. Hope it will work for you too.
