Hi,

I'm trying to find a way to spatially group together folders in finder. I've attached a image of what I mean.

Arranging folders spatially in finder

Does anyone have any idea how to do this without finder randomly resetting these back to a normal grid arrangement sometime later. I thought I had this working but after restarting my computer they all lost their positions.

I found that grouping folders spatially was really useful for keeping everything related topics together as not everything suits a perfect hierarchical structure.

Perhaps this is not possible; does anyone have other suggestions on how to achieve the same result?

Thanks for any help,

Patrick.

You could ad a colour tag to the folders, ie Yellow for Uni, Red for world domination.

Think this is possible but you need to deselect the option in Finder that, as you say, reorganizes the icons by name, etc. If you right hand click on the desktop or maybe in the particular Finder window you should be able to access the arrangement settings and deselect any that cause ordering. I believe these settings are persistent by windows/folder location and the desktop itself.
