Do you need to use a VPN to listen to the stream or is it not geolocked?

No VPN needed. Subscriptions have always been available internationally as far as I am aware.

No they're not.  You expressly agree on the signup page that you're in the USA.

Just had someone come in wanting to stream Sirius around there house.

I see that logitech have a smart radio but it looks pretty small and i wonder about the sound quality, it also dosn't have the ability to connect to amplified speakers like the old squeezebox's could.

Does anyone know of anything similar locally that supports sirius and would allow connecting to an amp etc as well as reasonable builtin speakers?

I see from the images it has a headphone jack. Can't you use that to connect to external speakers?

yeah i guess thats an option, i was hoping for an optical port but thinking about it more, the quality of Sirius stream's arn't going to benefit from a optical connection

Nope.  Sirius requires that all devices that connect to them be in the US, so there won't be any available outside it.

Looks like the Logitech device uses Sirius XM Internet Radio which means it should work here so long as they accept a NZ credit card for billing purposes. The Sirius satellite receivers won't work here because you would not be in the line of site of any of the satellites. $15(US)/month for Internet radio is reasonable I guess if you like what they have to offer.

Please see above - Sirius XM require that all receivers that use their service be in the US.  You actually have to check a box that says "I am in the United States" when you sign up - not even dig through the terms of service.  Because of the fact that using their service outside the US is not allowed, you can guarantee that devices designed to use it will be exceptionally rare here- if Sirius XM is the selling point, they won't bother selling it here because "you can't use the service".  The physical ability to do so is besides the point.
