Thanks

Depends on which "Prime" service you are referring to.  If you're after the subscription Prime service that comes with benefits like nominally free two-day shipping, etc. I believe that is not available in New Zealand (yet!)  If, however, you're just after Amazon's Prime Video service, you need to sign up at https://www.primevideo.com/.

I have signed up to Amazon prime in the past and had no issues, both video and the other.

I signed up to it, but it's pretty rubbish. I'll be cancelling. It has about 12 TV shows - only one of which I want to watch, and most of which are actually 'coming soon' and it's entire movie selection is, I kid you not, Bollywood. As in, you click on 'Movies' in the app and there is precisely 1 category, and it is Bollywood.

Edit: Interesting. I just logged in to cancel it (thanking you for the reminder) and nothing is showing up under Subscriptions & Memberships.

Edit 2: Even more interesting, it's not Amazon you go to but primevideo.com ... and in there there is lots of stuff I don't see at home. Check with app, seeing lots of content. It seems my venerable UnblockUS subscription is messing with it. *Rolls eyes*.

Every so often Amazon pesters me to sign up to their Amazon Prime subscription service, and most times when I buy stuff from them when I go to check out.  Since the most popular benefits seem to be access to streaming video content that they block from being available in this part of the world and free two-day shipping (in countries where they have a logistics presence), I've never seen the point.  I guess it might make sense if you got everything you purchased from Amazon shipped through a freight forwarder like YouShop (to get the free 2 day domestic shipping) but otherwise, why bother?

The Prime Video service for international markets seems to be a separate product offering that unfortunately has a rather confusing name given they already had Amazon Prime.

Salty - that would be because you are using a DNS unblocker and it is somehow confusing the app. I get this if I try and use DNS4me or Getflix on the iPad / iPhone / PS3, it just simply does not like it. Turn off Amazon on your unblocker and then see, there are quite a few shows and movies, some of the TV is pretty decent (currently watching Taken - the TV series), the movies are the usual catalog fare, nothing particularly new
