Hi.
I am looking for a site or programe that can send and recieve txts free, now I have heard of www.smsfun.co.nz, but that can only send them, so if you know any programes or websites that can do what I want please post reply.

There are plenty of programs that can send or receive mesages. Most aren't free because somebody has to pay for those messages to be sent.

As to recommendations that's pretty hard without knowing what you want to actually do.

For free? Good luck with that... You will fall in a few traps looking "for free".

There isn't free stuff around. Someone pays.

The keyword in that sentence is "was".

With no revenue, and having to pay for someone else's SMS, there's only too many months a site can live before going broke.

Haha yeah, those were the days.

Nothing is free anyway. Someone always ends up paying for it. Even if it's through advertisements etc in the program/site.

If you want free send and recieve then as everyone said, youre going to have to pay. We use Bulletin Messenger here at work and seems to work well.

I use Bluephone Elite 2 on my Mac, and Nokia PC Suite on my Windows machine.

Bluephone was pay-for software, and PC Suite is free with my Nokia.

I send and recieve SMS from my PC, and it uses my phones text plan.

Very convenient!

It's NZ, nothing is provided by service providers for free :D or wait VDFN has free2TXT from their web site, but that's only 20 per day - at least something.

if all NZ's cellphone operators would introduce similar service where people just go to their web site and type text and send it someone. would not it be great? :)

All Russian cell phone operators have that feature with no limits... and there are number of user developed application to select operator and send text, totaly free text.

Sometimes operators even allow to receive replies for free to e-mails.

Now about the cost. no cell phone operator pays for service txts in their own network. Why not to provide the feature like VDFN does then?
