So here's the story. My client, a small real estate firm orders a sparkly new server from me. I order from the supplier. Supplier addresses package to client correctly and VERY legibly. 3 parcels dispatched from Auckland on friday. Today at 10am package 2 of 3 gets dropped off at a meat processing firm in another suburb with a similar sounding name and the other 2 packages are left at the depot (in Wellington).

I called the courier firm directly after I had retrieved the parcel at 10.15am from the meat processing firm and viola my other 2 packages arrive at 2.30pm.....................

What the hell? Server supplier paid extra to get it to me quickly and this is what I get?

Any of you had this sort of wonderful service with couriers?

I have a similar story.

Client of mine ordered a substantial amount of product from overseas, they were desperate for it on a particular day as their launch day was the following day. When they called up XYZ Couriers to trace the shipment, it had been signed for by someone who doesn't work at their store.

After a lot of heated phone calls, it turns out the driver faked a signature, and left the goods (unsecured) in his truck overnight, as he was too late delivering. He then delivered them the next day.

Unbelievable.

been waiting for a parcel for 6 days. 2degrees swear was sent on 8th. i swore i was on leave at home waiting everyday and nothing. on the 14th a card was dropped in my box saying i wasnt in on the 9th when they attempted delivery. anyway got me stuff unharmed. i wonder if there's something similar going on?

Our old house use to be at the bottom of a steep driveway/steps. At the time, there was always someone at home, due to an at home business, couriers would ALWAYS leave a card to call in the letterbox, saying no one was at home.
We changed courier companies, CourierPost, NZCouriers, TNT, ParcelPost they all did the same.

Some are plain lazy and then you get some which go out of their way to help.... and then the ones who leave the handbrake off their van on a sloped driveway leaving it to roll down through the fence....

I ordered a server once from up in Auckland to Feilding, and was told it was too heavy and that I would have to come and pick it up from in town. Even though I had paid extra to have the extra weight, and have it delivered to my house.

ASB sent me $400 of MTA vouchers , via courier (Courier Post).

A week after ordering, nothing turned up. Phoned ASB, they said they could do nothing until a month had passed (since it takes up to a month for them to process).

So, one month goes by, nothing turns up. Phone ASB.

ASB investigates, finds that the order was sent a couple of days after I ordered them. So, ASB gives me a tracking code.

I phone the courier, and, they say, that it has already been delivered and signed for.

The couriers say they first visited the delivery address but someone with a different name was living there.

How this can happen? The courier had the correct address, and I live at that address. I also work from home and at no point did a courier turn up.

So, obviously the courier has gone to the wrong address. 1st mistake.

2nd mistake. Next, the enterprising courier, has gone through the electoral role looking for my name. They found my name, and my OLD address from the role (i moved a month earlier).

The courier says that they delivered the package to my 'old' address and someone there has signed for them, story over for them according to the courier.

I go to my old house where the courier says they delivered the package. I ask the new occupiers if they received a package from a courier. They say they did, it had been dumped on their front doorstep when they returned from work. They had not signed for it at all.

3rd mistake. The courier had gone ahead, and signed the delivery receipt themselves.

The new occupiers said that they sent the package back to ASB.

I rang the courier and queried them. The couriers response was that it was ASB's fault as vouchers were a prohibited item. The courier denied all responsibility for the cock up. They would not apologise or admit any mistakes.

Eventually, the vouchers worked their way through ASB's mail system and I got them a couple of months after the initial order, but what a mess.

Sounds typical, like somehow the fact that the package contained vouchers explains the courier's actions? Glad you got them in the end.

Slightly outside the scope of couriers... but we have lost a shipping container before, on its way from Wellington to Auckland. Ofcouse the truck driver never came back work ;)

First mistake - don't take responsibility for tracking the items yourself. Until you have signed for the item, its the company that sends the item's problem!

At one stage my wife and I both had travelling jobs based out of our house. We signed a right to drop without signature document to make things easier. It had a 6 month term on it. 2 years later, after we'd changed jobs etc they were still just dropping everything off regardless.

Interesting too in that in a lot of areas there is only one or two couriers and they represent all companies, so packages sent through other companies, with which we had not signed any docs with, would still just be dumped.

a 'friend' of mine was given several 'samples' of brand new perfume for free from his 'friend'... Later on I found out that his friend worked for a courier company.

Personally I was very annoyed that they would be so dishonest. No wonder customers of mine call up complaining that stuff doesn't arrive when couriers steal merchandise and just write it off.

NZ courier companies need to take more responsibility.

I was supposed to get the 2nd highest graphics card at the time from my supplier, myself and husband were both home that morning. I check the tracking number after lunch and find it was apparently delivered and signed MB.

Check to see what that means, apparently it means Mailbox because no one was home. never mind this was a signature required item and always, every courier in the area dropped off at the local dairy and had them sign - this was a small town.
Never mind it wouldn't even fit in the letterbox.
Nebver mind husband had been working on his ute that morning - right behind the letterbox.

Went back to supplier, no more stock of that one, got another - upgraded, different courier, never heard anything further until I posted it on a forum one day, PBT Head honcho read it and sent me a bottle of wine.

I sent the bottle of wine to the supplier.

The courier driver was sacked.

Off topic slightly but, We (In Napier) ordered gear from china (Via DHL), it arrived in New Zealand 3 days after it had been shipped (which was the stated time) it then went to Christchurch, Then back to Auckland, Then To Sydney, Amsterdam, Moscow, London then back to Auckland then finally to us in Napier. It took 1 month and hours on end to DHL but we eventually got it but by that stage it was "Lost" and they fully refunded us.

Another weird issue with couriers was back with C1 Shopping Mall, I ordered a Graphics Card from them (Auckland) it traveled overnight to Christchurch VIA PBT couriers then back up to Napier the Next Day. No one could explain why it had done the trip as it was all clearly labeled.
