I have paid to send texts from this service rather than use the free texts in the hope this would be reliable.

Unfortunately this isn't the case.

I have sent 4 text messages as tests and instead of being charged 6 cents per message as the advertised rate, I am being charged 7 cents.

Nevertheless on the useage page it shows I am being charged at 6 cents.

Also NONE of the messages I sent have actually been delivered.

I think Mr Barry Murphy needs to go back to the drawing board on this one.

When I needed to send him an email outlining my concerns I had to go through the drama of the Captcha check.

Surely if a customer needs to contact him there is no need for this hassel.

This was last night that I sent the email so it will be interesting to see if Barry replies to me.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems with Websms.co.nz?

Thanks for that info - pity it isn't made clear on the site.

Apart from that I would be interested to know why the texts aren't being delivered.

Do the people you're sending to have ported numbers?

I can't find the pricing, but I assume it will be +gst, although they do need to clearly display this.

You will see in the terms that they can't guarantee delivery, and it appears to affect ported numbers. A few spelling errors in it.

Terms and Conditions

We cannot guarentee the delivery of your message as the operator may choose to discard it or may not support all forms of MNP (Mobile Number Portability), for instance 2Degrees has trouble accepting 021 messages to numbers ported to them. We are actively trying to work with them to resolve this.

Yes one of them is but the other is an unported number.

Surprise surprise though, the email I sent to barry@sms.co.nz was returned - couldn't be delivered.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

They (he) are accepting payment and are not delivering the goods. I think these issues need to be resolved properly before payment is accepted.

sms.co.nz is owned by Telecom New Zealand. Do you mean @websms or something similar?

 Thanks for pointing that out.

Ok it looks like I have egg on my face over that one.

The email was sent to barry@websms.co.nz though.
