I'm looking to organise broadband for a place I'm moving to and I'd appreciate any pointers to good deals. The house is in Tasman and only wired for ADSL 1 but I do use Steam and would need 80GB plus of data. I don't require a landline.

The main thing I'm trying to work out is overall cost considering the possibility that I'll be leaving NZ for a while in 7-8 months. No contract deals seem thin on the ground. At the moment, Snap seems the best deal overall at $95 for 175GB and a $150 termination fee but I'd be happy to hear of a better deal.

Go with snap:) If a lot of your cap is used for Steam data, keep the snap steam cache server in mind. It's zero rated, so if you use Steam-limiter you might not need such a large cap (it was recently replaced and not fully populated but seems to be getting there - see thread in the snap section)

You might want to look into Fyx too. It's $30/month plus 30c/GB, with no minimum term.

quite a few providers are offering first 2 months free (telstracelar, telecom, vodafone I think). Even with an early termination fee of, I think, $200 that works out pretty good since 2 months of free broadband is worth about that much anyway
