hi

Well there is one thing in computers that im not a genius in.
I recently bought a different modem from my friend, because the one im using right now is hangin on by a thread. Now the modem i got from him came with an installation c.d from a different isp from mine. How can i configure this modem to go with my ISP.

Some Vital info missing. Who is your ISP??

and have you checked out there website for the settings??

Alex, after you install the modem you might need to update its drivers. These are usually on the CD.

Open Control Panel, find the Phone and Modem icons and see if the modem is listed there. Take note of the COM port in use. Click the Properties button and you will find a butto to "diagnose" the modem. Cick it and you should see some responses. If the modem responds ok that's all you need for now.

Close this... Click Start and right-click the Network Connections item. Select Properties. In this new window open the Wizard or create a new connection.

On this new connection make sure you use the correct COM port corresponding to your modem, the phone number of your ISP and your username and password.
