Hi Everyone,

Can anyone please let me know if you have any comparison report on 3G and ADSL

Advantages of 3G over ADSL

Advantages of ADSL over 3G

Disadvantages of having 3G at home (if we dont want to spend on 3G and ADSL both for a person)

Disadvantages of ADSL

3G is simply '3rd generation'.. It is often used to refer to WCDMA/UTMS or EVDO.

WCDMA/UTMS/HSPDA: Reasonable speeds, portable.
Cons: Limited coverage (but growing) due to the decision to use 2100mhz. Need to get a datacard or device that supports it.
EVDO: Same benefits as WCDMA/UTMS/HSPDA but better coverage.
Cons: Need to get a datacard/device that supports it.

ADSL: Faster speeds, lower latency, bigger datacaps. Often internet providers have free modem promotions.
Cons: Fixed to the line - non portable. Dependent on phoneline being present.

Choice - for any usage between 1-2GB, WCDMA/UTMS/HSDPA/EVO anyday for the reasonable speeds and portability factor. Any higher usage - ADSL or alternative connections which are cheaper to use for large amounts of data.
