Hey all, so im not even sure if i've put this in the right place lol

So ages ago when we got our cable installed it went through the walls in our room to the office. The office has now become The Toddler's bedroom so we had the cable running across that room into the hall so we could use it without actually sitting in bed with The Toddler. However The Toddler has now found a fondness for chewing on aforementioned cable and I want to pull it back through the wall into my room HOWEVER the connection on the end of the cable is too big to fit back through the hole soooo is there anyway I can easily remover the fitting on the end and stick it back on again or do I need to have the telstra dudes come all the way out to do it for me and charge me for the pleasure?!

Any help much appreciated

Its just a bit of coaxial cable with an F-connector plug on the end. Shouldn't be too difficult to reattach.

You can't just reattach a crimped RG6 connector.

In response to the original question it is an easy job. You simply need to cut the plug off and reattach an F6 plug. The problem is unless you have a coax crimping tool or compression tool your only option is to use a screw on connector which you can buy from DSE or Jaycar. Crimp/compression connectors are far superior however and the screw on plugs to have a tendency to fall off quite easily.

Hey thanks for your responses - we've decided to leave the cable the hell alone and hide the end of it in The Toddler's closet with a wireless router lol

HI,

From experience I suggest you move the cable as toddlers get stronger and will graduate to pulling it or tripping over it.

I dont suggest you pull the wires back as things change and one day you may want to move back to the office.
I am sure TCL wont like it but why not split the wire yourself ( I did it in the roof) and route it to the new point with faceplate on the wall.

When I relocated the wires in my house several years ago, I purchased a packet of F connectors from DSE and a splitter box with the screw attachments.

Yes I know a proffessional crimping tool makes it easier, but I just used a razor blade and a standard plyers to crimp it.
It worked perfectly well.

Only prob was the F connectors were in two sizes - F56 I think was correct size as the telstra cable is thicker than normal coax.
