Can anyone help me with the config changes necessary to get the Netcomm NF4V modem working with BigPipe VDSL?
So far the DSL light just continues to flash and doesn't ever stay on permanently. I'm running firmware version GURNV5.OT132A-8-NC.AU-R5B017.EN
The Chorus engineer got his own modem connected successfully and the DSL and Internet lights stayed on, but I haven't managed to get my NF4V to do so yet.

So far I have done the following setup:
- Basic Setup
- VDSL: username/password = something/something
- WAN Service
- Deleted ppp0.1 entry
- Added new ptm0/(0_1_1) entry:
- WAN or service type: PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)
- Service description: pppoe_0_1_1
- 802.1P Priority: 0
- 8021Q VLAN ID: 10
- PPP username: something
- PPP password: something
- PPPoE Service name: pppoe_0_1_1
- Authentication method: PAP
- MTU: 1492
- Enable IPv4 for this service: checked
- Enable IPv6 for this service: checked
- Request Prefix Delegation: checked
- (all other checkboxes on the PPP Username and Password page are unchecked)
- Routing Default Gateway: selected default gateway Interfaces: eth4.1
- DNS Server Configuration: selected DNS server interface: eth4.1

I'd really appreciate any help - this is driving me crazy!

My HG659 didnt work with CG Nat very well.
Ask for a IPv4 address and see if that makes a difference.

The NF4V is a bit of a funny one.
We're working on a guide for it at the moment as this has come up before.

Here is the important bits from the (draft) guide:

Do NOT use the Basic Setup as per the quick start instructions.

Click on ‘Advanced Setup’ on the left hand side of the screen and follow the steps we give you here.

First click on Layer 2 Interface.

If there are any settings in there, tick the box on the right under the ‘remove’ heading and click the

‘REMOVE’ button

Next Click on WAN service

If there are any settings in there, tick the box on the right under the ‘remove’ heading and click the

‘REMOVE’ button

Now you have a fresh modem without any unusual configurations, so it’s time to put the Bigpipe

settings in.

From the ‘WAN Service’ section, click ‘ADD’

Select ptm0/(0_1_1) (that should be already selected) and click NEXT

Make sure the settings are all correct according to Bigpipe. (They should be like that by default) and click NEXT

Put anything you like into the username and password field (just don’t leave it blank)

You can leave the service name as it is, or call it whatever you want.

Make sure any other settings are as per Bigpipet (they should all default to the right

setting) and click NEXT

Make sure the default gateway is ppp0.1

If it says something else, move that gateway onto the right hand side by selecting it and clicking the

arrow pointing that way, and move ppp0.1 to the left by selecting it and clicking the arrow pointing

to the left.

Then click NEXT

Click APPLY/SAVE

Wait a few seconds and you should see the ‘Internet’ light on your Netcomm modem light up a

beautiful shade of green. That means you have a working connection the internet. Now go watch

some YouTube on your superfast VDSL connection!

of that stuff works.

nice internet account name... it's almost as if you want something.... but I can't think what it is.

Couldnt figure it out either. I bet you will check the radius auth logs tomorrow and see if you can find it :)

I had to delete the default profile on my NF4V and create a brand new one. Then it worked.

Dont worry. I still have a Vodafone VDSL line. (mainly just wanted a separate connection from the rest of the house and why not)

Many thanks to everyone for their replies (and banter), especially BigPipeNZ and TimA. I believe it was a combination of both the detailed settings from BigPipeNZ and the suggestion to request a public IP which eventually got my connection working successfully. With the settings changes alone it was still failing to sync but as soon as BigPipe confirmed my public IP had been enabled the beautiful green lights were rock solid.

To assist with BigPipeNZ's draft doc, I had a slightly different experience to the instructions given:
- In the 'First click on Layer2 Interface' section - I found I needed to go into each of the ATM Interface, PTM Interface and ETH Interface sections and delete any entries in each of those too. I then needed to create a new PTM Interface record.
- If I didn't do the above, I was only presented with ETH when I got to the 'WAN Service' section, instead of the required ptm0.

Again, thanks for everyone's help and the modem + wireless + VOIP bundle now all seems to now be rocking in one nice little unit!
