I'm on a brand new connection with CAT5e cabling (but can connect the model directly to the patch panel or incoming phone line). The VDSL and ADSL plans are the same price so I was wondering if I could attempt to upgrade but from what I've read I may be a bit too far away from the exchange. I'm not too worried about getting better down, its the up bandwidth I want.

Any help would be appreciated. (Apologies if this is in the wrong forum).

If it's mainly the up throughput you want, then yes I'd say go for it.

The downstream attenuation is well over the 10.8dB usual limit, so in all likelihood Chorus will decline the order.

Oh ok. So there is a hard limit for acceptance. There's just a few conflicting articles around the place that have opposing views. Thought my connection might be on the boundary. Would my connection potential be worse if I were accepted?

They barely follow that rule anymore.

I would upgrade just for the upstream.

Despite a proper VDSL install (with master filter, Cat6 cable run, and dedicated RJ45 jack) I only got ADSL download speeds and only slightly improved upload speeds.
So I went back to ADSL2.
